Day 1: The Journey North Entebbe / Kampala → Ziwa → Murchison
Your journey begins early. Leave the city behind and travel north through Uganda's changing landscapes. Along the way, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino encounter — giving travellers the opportunity to begin their Ugandan wildlife story on foot. Continue north toward Murchison Falls. By late afternoon, arrive in the Murchison region. Settle into your lodge as the sounds of the wilderness replace the noise of the city. Overnight: Murchison Falls Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: The Wild Awakens
A Full Day in Murchison This morning begins before sunrise. Coffee. Then into the wilderness. Drive through the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park as the savannah wakes. Look for: Elephants · Giraffes · Buffalo · Lions · Jackson's hartebeest · Uganda kob · Antelope But don't make this a checklist. Allow the guide to follow the movement of the wilderness. A herd crossing the track. A lion resting beneath an acacia. Giraffes appearing against the morning horizon. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of rest. Sunset As the heat begins to disappear, head out again for a slower evening drive. The African savannah at golden hour becomes part of the experience. Overnight: Murchison Falls Meals: Full Board
Day 3: Following the Nile
The River Journey Today belongs to the Nile. Board a boat at Paraa and begin the journey upstream. The river becomes your safari road. Along the banks: Hippos. Crocodiles. Elephants. Buffalo. Waterbirds. As you move closer to the falls, the character of the river changes. The water accelerates. The gorge tightens. The sound grows. And then— Murchison Falls Millions of litres of water force themselves through a narrow gorge before exploding into the river below. Disembark and experience the falls from the top. Stand above the gorge. Feel the mist. Listen to the thunder. This is the moment the Nile changes character. Return to the lodge for a relaxed evening. Overnight: Murchison Falls Meals: Full Board
Day 4: Where the Nile Meets Lake Albert The Nile Delta
Today, we leave the conventional safari route. Travel toward the Nile Delta, where the Victoria Nile spreads toward Lake Albert. This is Murchison in another mood. Quiet. Open. Water everywhere. This is a particularly rewarding area for birding, and the experience can be built around a search for the shoebill and other wetland species. Rather than rushing back, allow the morning to unfold. Return to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon Your Wilderness No forced activity. Swim. Read. Relax. Enjoy the lodge. Watch the river. Day 5: The Ancient Forest
Murchison → Budongo Forest Today the landscape changes. The open savannah gradually gives way to one of Uganda's great forest ecosystems. Enter Budongo Forest. The atmosphere is completely different. Cooler. Darker. Older. Take part in a guided forest experience, with the option of chimpanzee trekking depending on the traveller's preference and permit availability. Listen for calls in the canopy. Watch monkeys moving through the trees. Look for forest birds. And experience Uganda beyond the classic safari. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening. Day 6: The River & The Wild Your Day. Your Pace.
This is the day that makes the product feel premium. No compulsory schedule. Choose your experience. Option I — Morning Game Drive Return to the savannah for another wildlife encounter. Option II — Conservation Experience Spend time learning about conservation and the relationship between Uganda's wildlife, communities and protected areas. Option III — Private Wilderness Experience For premium travellers, create a private morning experience followed by a long, slow lunch overlooking the wilderness. Day 7: Beyond the Safari Murchison → Fort Portal
Today becomes a scenic transition through western Uganda. Rather than treating this as a boring transfer day, make the landscape part of the story. Rolling countryside. Tea plantations. Small towns. The Rwenzori landscapes emerging in the distance. Arrive around Fort Portal and settle into your lodge. The evening A quiet evening in one of Uganda's most beautiful highland regions. Day 8: The Crater Lakes The Green Heart of Uganda
Wake slowly. Explore the extraordinary landscape around Fort Portal and the crater lakes. This is a completely different Uganda from Murchison. Volcanic landscapes. Green hills. Tea country. Lakes hidden among the hills. Take a guided nature/community experience before returning to your lodge. This day gives the international traveller something many standard safaris don't: space to experience Uganda rather than simply drive through it. Overnight: Fort Portal Meals: Full Board
Day 9: Back to the City Fort Portal → Entebbe
After breakfast, begin your journey back toward Entebbe. Depending on the traveller's departure time, include a final stop along the way. Arrive in Entebbe / Kampala. The journey ends.
